Tree surgery
|
PollardCommonly known for the removal of all branches from the trunk. Regular (Annual/ Biannual), pruning back of small branches to the same point can be an option, resulting in the formation of a 'pollard head'. Mature trees that have not been pollard are generally, not suitable candidates for pollarding due to the large wounds produced, as this may jeopardise the long term future of the tree. Pollarded trees usually require regular treatment of re-growth. |
Tree dismantling/ FellingSectional felling or dismantling techniques are used for trees which cannot be felled for reasons of space or proximity to vulnerable structures.
This is carried out when trees are decaying, dead or to do with their location to properties, buildings, highways, gardens or even other trees. |
